Enjoying Rye Arts Festival in 2007, Joy saw a beautiful display of intricate bead work which so inspired her she was moved to try her own hand at beading. She joined a local group in Rye and learned to create beautiful designs using patterns, later moving on to creating her own designs. Bead Crochet is a complex process which needs careful planning and perfect execution to achieve a correct design, and with her patient and methodical approach Joy is highly skilled at making creative pieces which would discourage others with their complexity. She keeps a detailed work diary which serves as a both a reference and a chart of her progress in the medium. Moonlight walk, arguably one of her most intricate designs was created for the Beadworker's Guild Annual Colour Display. The theme was shades of grey, which aside from causing some amusement among the bead workers provided a beautiful palette of muted greys, iridescent embellishments and delicate silver highlights. We are delighted to show a variety of Joy's Jewellery in the gallery, and Joy does also consider commissions for bespoke pieces.
