Jan (Janette) Clutterbuck was born on July 16, 1919, and served in the American Red Cross in Europe during World War II. She met her future husband in Ireland, where he was serving with the Lovett Scouts in Donegal. In her long and active life, Jan was an acclaimed artist, producing vibrant and unique watercolour and oil paintings. She exhibited twice at the Royal Academy Summer Show and, during the 1970's, was Chair of the Women's International Art Club. One of the many exhibits she organised was an exchange show in 1976 between Rye, NY and Rye, East Sussex. She produced her last painting on January 11th and passed away peacefully on January 14th 2010, aged 90.
