Ben Fenton

Picture
Originally from Dungeness, Ben forged a successful career in London, but returned to the Rye to seek new inspiration and challenges for his work. The son of a fisherman, he has a deep love of the sea and captures the bleak and angular beauty of the Kent and Sussex coastline. His stunning paintings in steely hues can be found in private collections all over Europe and the UK and he exhibits in diverse spaces in London, Kent and East Sussex.

Minimal, bold and architectural pieces are Ben's speciality. His angular coastal landscapes are both detailed and minimal, with elegant use of colour and texture. With minimal colour and angular details his works are famous throughout East Sussex where they grace the walls of many an elegant establishment. this study of Rye Windmill is a particularly striking example of Bens expert handling of oils with palette knives and despite its demure palette, full of contrast and light. Sound Mirror 03

£250.00

Spectacular remnants of a dead-end technology, the three concrete “listening ears” at Denge near Dungeness in Kent are the best known of the various early warning acoustic mirrors built along the Kent and Sussex coast. Now just sculptural relics, the sound mirrors were intended to provide early warning of enemy aeroplanes (or airships) approaching Britain across the English Channel before the development of radar. Minimal, bold and architectural pieces are Ben's speciality. With minimal colour and angular details his works are famous throughout East Sussex where they grace the walls of many an elegant home. this study of Rye Windmill is a particularly striking example of Bens expert handling of oils with palette knives.
