Born in 1932, Anthony spent much of his youth in the countryside enjoying his favourite pursuits of sketching and painting. After leaving school, he joined the R.A.F where he gained a commission as a fighter pilot and flew the early jet aircraft of the 1950's during the height of the cold war. On leaving the forces he embarked on a successful career in sales and marketing. In 1976 Anthony decided to make painting his full time profession, a decision which has brought him considerable success. Anthony is well known for his ability to capture atmosphere and the charm of light filtering through trees, the sparkle on the water and almost the fresh smell of an early morning by the river. He has always been fascinated by nature and the landscape and although he has had little formal training in art, his understanding and love of nature shines through in his work. He loves recreating the beauty and character he captures in his photos with his own painterly style. His work has been exhibited in the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and he has had numerous sell out solo exhibitions throughout the UK. Although officially retired, he still paints regularly in his Hertfordshire studio. We are absolutely delighted to be able to show a small collection of Anthony's works at Art & Soul At The Hope Anchor.
