After a fulfilling career as architect and landscape architect Andrew’s love of art drew him to devote his time fully to painting. Watercolour is his chosen medium and he has developed a style which moved away from an ‘architectural’ rendering in favour of an expressive technique which results in fresh and lively paintings overlaid onto a carefully considered composition. Andrew’s painting is concerned with creating a dynamic balance between factual elements of the subject and the free-flowing spontaneous rendering full of light and atmosphere. His paintings are inspired by a love of light, atmosphere and movement. Subjects include landscape, townscape, and still life. Andrew has exhibited extensively at the Fountain Gallery and galleries at his home town in Rye. His first solo show was in October 2002 and he has also participated in a number of Open Studio Events including Surrey Open Studios. Andrew’s work was been selected for the 2010 exhibition of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and he also exhibits with the Royal Society of Marine Artists. He has been presented The Derwent Award and The Royal Talon Award by The Artist Magazine. He divides his time between painting London, Hampton Court area and the landscape of his home town of Rye East Sussex. You can contact Andrew here for commissions.
